Well here is a little history on Ikea. It is a private company that was founded in Sweden, 1943 to be exact, by a man named Ingvar Kamprad and can you believe it, he was only 17 years old when he formed the company! Ikea has over a little 260 stores in over 35 different countries. In other word there are hundreds of Ikea locations now. They sell flat pack furniture, home garage goods, accessories and both bathroom and kitchen appliances. Ikea has now moved to the Internet offering over 12,000 products and receiving millions of visitors.
What would be the benefit of shopping online rather than your local store? Well your local Ikea may not have a specific product in stock. So you can easily find that product online and have it either shipped directly to your home or have it shipped to your local store so that you can see if you really want it or not, huge benefit!
The reason why they offer furniture and products much cheaper than others is because you actually have to assemble it yourself. As for other stores they sell products completely already built. This is a huge advantage, as others thought it was silly and thought people would be too lazy, well if it is going to save you over $50 to a $100, it is well worth it.
Since Ikea has gone online it has given consumers an open opportunity to search and find hidden Ikea coupons and gift cards that you would not normally find anywhere else. Companies have partnered with them to bring special discounts and goodies. You definitely have to act quickly on these offerings though as they come an go rather quickly.
